Mr. Elliot received his JD degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law. He graduated magna cum laude, served on Law Review, was on the Dean’s List, received the Order of the Coif, and was a Chicago–Kent Honors Scholar. Mr. Elliot received AmJur (Cali) awards for distinguished performance in Evidence, Contracts, Property, Products Liability, and Legal Writing. He also served as a Judicial Extern for the U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Prior to his legal education Mr. Elliot received a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Health from Harvard University School of Public Health and a Bachelors of Science from the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Elliot was awarded a Harvard Fellowship, and, as part of his Masters program, attended classes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and worked at the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
Mr. Elliot has brought and defended securities and shareholders’ derivative actions, employment discrimination, products liability, consumers’ rights, unfair competition, insurance bad faith, and cost recovery suits and environmental regulatory and enforcement actions. He has litigated large-scale consumer and toxic tort cases, including the first litigation ever brought under the Multi-party, Multi-Forum Trial Jurisdiction Act, the precursor to the Class Action Fairness Act.
In the field of environmental compliance and environmental protection, he has represented clients in cases involving the Federal Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, OSHA, and state-equivalent regulations.
Before founding the Elliot law firm, Mr. Elliot was an associate at the firms of Baker & McKenzie and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, at that time the #1 and #2 firms on the AmLaw 100 list of American law firms.
